We constructed this five-bedroom detached house in rural Essex, with the assistance of the architect Terrence Wynn.
The period cottage exterior, with the solid oak tiled porch, belies the bespoke contemporary interior. The property has a Bang & Olufsen sound system fitted throughout, along with air conditioning and an alarm system with CCTV.
The sanitary ware was supplied by Villeroy & Boch, Rocha and Matki, featuring lighted niches within the tiled walls.
The entire house has a particular focus for mood lighting, particularly in the dining room and lounge, with Lutron lighting controls. Over 270 lights were fitted, of which over 40% are energy efficient.
In keeping with the cottage aspect, solid oak architraves, skirtings, doors and staircases were fitted, to combine both the old and new. To the rear of the property, hardwood decking was used to house the sunken hot tub and as a flooring for the stainless steel and glass balcony.
