The works at Barclays Bank, located on Maldon High Street, involved a comprehensive strip-out aimed at preparing the premises for a new occupant. This process was essential to ensure that the space met modern standards and requirements for functionality and safety.

The first phase of the project involved the careful removal of partition walls, which were dismantled to create an open layout conducive to the needs of the new tenant. During this process walls were removed in order to expose passenger lift. Following the removal of partition walls, the existing carpet was taken out and the floor was levelled in preparation for new flooring installation. Flooring where the old vault was located has been repaired, filled, and levelled ready for use.

All radiators and associated pipework were removed and made safe ensuring water was drained from pipes preventing leaks as well as disposal of old boiler system. The works involved wall repairs and damp repair as well as stripping wall surfaces ready for decoration. The project also entailed removing all suspended ceilings on the ground floor along with lighting fixtures. Additionally, air conditioning units and their accompanying vents were safely removed from the premises, these elements were disposed of responsibly, adhering to environmental regulations regarding waste management. Suspended ceilings on the first floor were repaired and damaged tiles were replaced.

Brick repairs were carried out on the front of the building where previous signage had caused damage. Works also included roof repair, re-cementing verges around the building’s exterior was performed to secure them properly, maintaining both aesthetic appeal and structural stability. Existing lead materials on the roof were lifted carefully, reset into their correct positions, secured using copper nails, and sealed with lead sealant. This work prevents water ingress, which can lead to significant damage over time if not addressed properly. One critical aspect of this project included identifying and safely disposing of asbestos-containing roof materials.

Finally, a comprehensive cleaning of the roof took place where moss and lichen were removed and a thorough deep clean of kitchen areas and toilets was conducted as part of the project scope.
